French Alps – Hotspot for Swiss buyers

» Market Updates

The strength of the Swiss Franc against the Euro makes investing in properties in France an attractive opportunity. Investors from Switzerland are showing increasingly more interest in buying real estate in the French Alps.

The real estate value in the key winter sports locations has recovered from the global recession and buyers from across Europe are helping to uplift the property market. The strongest sales performance was noted in the French ski destinations of Val d'Isere and Courcheval, Megeve. Property prices in these locations are now higher that they were four years ago when the market reached its peak.

During the second quarter of 2011 the annual price for ski properties in Europe showed a growth of 1.7%. The reason for this growth is that this kind of real estate is becoming a more interesting investment opportunity delivering income throughout the entire year.

The FNAIM reported that real estate values in France recorded an average increase of 3.3% within 3 month from April to June this year.
